Hello,
My name is Shawn Rutherford and I am part owner of Ameritech Security. It has always been a goal of mine to run a company and I am enjoying all that comes with it. I have been on the technical side of things for a few years now. I picked up an associates degree in electronics in 1994, was a field technician on banking equipment (alarm systems and ATM’s), maintained uncle Sams light wheeled vehicles, did electrical maintenance in a factory, and kept the conveyors running at UPS. As interesting and challenging as these jobs have been they have none been more rewarding than the role I am in now. I am able to use my hands, my mind, and back on occasion to help people protect what is precious to them.
This goal of mine hasn’t come easy nor did it present itself right to my face. I started a small company a few years before even Ameritech Security was born. It was hit and miss and was always on the back burner to my full time job at the time. I had come to the point of giving it up when I gave a friend of mine (Harold) a call to see if he would be interested in the accounts that I had built. At that time I found out that he too was installing alarms. We spoke and talked a few things over and decided to join together so Ameritech was born. We still both worked full time so again the dream of full time business ownership was placed in the back. It wasn’t until after a lot of prayer that I was to lose my job. Now that doesn’t really sound like an answered prayer to most, but at that same time Broadview Security (the next generation of Brinks) had also gotten in touch with me about becoming an authorized dealer for them. And with that push from my employer, the hope from Broadview, and the Grace of God I am now pursuing my dream.
Even though I am undeserving God has blessed me in my life. I have a great wife, two boys, and the essentials of life. I stand fast with my FAITH, FAMILY, and FRIENDS. Not to say I am perfect with any of them but I try. One of my favorite verses of the Bible is Psalm 28:7. It says “The LORD [is] my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him.”
